How to Permanently Delete Snapchat Account and Data
🌐
Whether you're fed up with Snapchat or just the people on it, permanently deleting the social network is surprisingly easy to do. You would think they were begging you to stick around, but no. It's not as simple as deleting the app from your phone as your account will still exist on Snapchat's servers, but it's still an easy process to follow.
You will need to have your Snapchat username and password ready and ideally be on a computer rather than your phone. Snapchat has a dedicated website for deactivations and deletions.
How to deactivate your Snapchat account first
Before you can permanently get rid of your Snapchat for good, you first need to turn it off. This means the process takes a bit longer, but it's a necessary step in case you change your mind.
Visit http://support.snapchat.com/delete-account in your favorite browser. Now log in with your Snapchat username and password and confirm that you are not, in fact, a robot.
Click Continue to proceed to the deletion page. Snapchat will confirm that you want to permanently deactivate your account. Type your username and password one last time to do this.
It also informs you that you can only reinstate your account up to 30 days after deactivation, like Twitter rules. Once the 30 day mark has passed, you can't reactivate and you're good to go.
Click Continue to successfully deactivate your Snapchat account.
If you change your mind before permanently deleting the account, just log in with your username and password in the Snapchat app as always. Snapchat will notify you that your account is disabled and ask if you want to re-enable it. Press Yes to be operational again.
How to permanently delete Snapchat
The good news is that if you want to permanently delete Snapchat forever, you don't have to do anything from here. Once your account is deactivated, Snapchat will automatically delete it after 30 days. Keep in mind that this also means you can't just deactivate your account and then decide a year later that you want it back. It will be long gone.
There doesn't seem to be a fast track to removal other than waiting the 30 days. You can try contacting Snapchat support to see if they can do anything to remove it sooner, but that's unlikely.
It's also probably unnecessary, because disabling means no one can find or interact with your account. During the 30 days, it will already be non-existent for the public.
Once you have permanently deleted Snapchat, you can create a new account by downloading the Snapchat app again at any time. After all, those face effects are kind of fun.
